Lockport Man Sentenced to Prison for Cocaine Charges
A Lockport man will spend nearly four years behind bars after being convicted of possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute. Gilberto Marchese, 38, was sentenced to 46 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.
The investigation, which led to Marchese’s conviction, was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations, the Niagara County Drug Task Force, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The task force, under the direction of Niagara County Sheriff Michael Filicetti, and Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly, played a crucial role in uncovering the evidence that led to Marchese’s arrest.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin G. Bish, who handled the case, Marchese possessed cocaine with the intent to distribute between December 2015 and March 2019. On March 27, 2019, law enforcement officers conducted a search warrant at Marchese’s residence on Grand Street in Lockport and recovered approximately 29 grams of cocaine, a grinder with suspected marijuana residue, and two digital scales.
Marchese’s sentencing is a result of the collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking in the region. The investigation highlights the importance of cooperation in addressing the complex issue of cocaine distribution.
The case against Marchese serves as a reminder of the severe consequences for those involved in drug trafficking. The sentencing of 46 months in prison reflects the gravity of the offense and the need for accountability.
