Glauco Kelvin Celedonio-Smith, 20, Sentenced to 15 Years for Cocaine Trafficking

HARRISBURG – A Lebanon County man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in a large-scale cocaine trafficking conspiracy.

Glauco Kelvin Celedonio-Smith, 20, of Lebanon, was sentenced on August 23, 2016 by United States District Court Chief Judge Christopher C. Conner in Harrisburg, to serve 15 years in prison for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride.

According to United States Attorney Peter Smith, Celedonio-Smith previously pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Celedonio-Smith and ten co-defendants were originally indicted by a federal grand jury in Harrisburg in July 2015 and a Superseding Information was filed in June 2016.

The charges stem from an investigation in which the Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents in Lebanon County intercepted packages sent from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to the United States between June and October 2014. The packages contained kilogram quantities of cocaine hydrochloride inside.

Celedonio-Smith and a co-defendant were stopped by Pennsylvania State Police on October 8, 2014 in Reading after taking receipt of a package from the Dominican Republic. The following day a search warrant was executed on their vehicle and cellular telephones, a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver, and a 9 mm Glock pistol were also seized.

The investigation was conducted by HSI, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Berks County District Attorney’s Office Detective Unit. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daryl F. Bloom.

Celedonio-Smith’s 15-year prison sentence is a significant blow to the cocaine trafficking ring, which had been operating in the Lebanon County area.

The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the flow of illicit substances into our communities.
