Grimy Times investigates: A notorious heroin dealer is heading to the slammer after a lengthy investigation.

On November 16, 2016, Glen Porter, also known as ‘Kuran,’ pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and distribution of, heroin.

Porter, 32, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven to 57 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release.

The sentencing comes after a joint investigation by the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and the Bridgeport Police Department, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Connecticut State Police, Stratford Police Department, Stamford Police Department and the Trumbull Police Department K-9 Unit.

According to court documents, Porter was a key player in a heroin distribution ring that operated in Bridgeport. He was charged alongside several other individuals, including Kareem Roseboro, also known as ‘Swiss,’ who was supplying distribution quantities of heroin to Porter and others.

The investigation, which began in 2015, revealed that Roseboro and his associates used the Stylz Barbershop, located on State Street in Bridgeport, as a hub for their narcotics distribution activity.

During the course of the investigation, investigators seized multiple ‘bricks’ of heroin, items used in the processing and packaging of heroin, and five firearms. A brick of heroin contains 100 individual dose bags.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Alina P. Reynolds and H. Gordon Hall.

Glen Porter’s criminal history includes multiple felony convictions.

Porter has been detained since his arrest on June 7, 2016.

This matter highlights the ongoing struggle with heroin addiction and the efforts of law enforcement to combat the illicit trade.
