Glenda Taylor-Sanders, a 52-year-old insurance agent from Matthews, North Carolina, has been sentenced to 66 months in prison for orchestrating a $400,000 loan scheme involving insurance premiums, according to a recent sentencing in federal court.
Glenda Taylor-Sanders was found guilty of defrauding an Illinois-based financial services company that provides companies with loans to pay for insurance premiums. She submitted fraudulent applications and related forged documents to the financial services company, purporting to be on behalf of her transportation company clients, for the purpose of obtaining loans to cover their insurance premiums.
According to court records, Taylor-Sanders used the fraudulently obtained funds to make mortgage payments on her personal residence, loan payments for a Maserati and a Mercedes Benz, to purchase Carolina Panthers tickets, and to pay for groceries and meals at restaurants.
The federal court in Charlotte, North Carolina, found Taylor-Sanders guilty of the crime. U.S. District Judge Robert J. Conrad Jr. handed down the sentence.
Taylor-Sanders’ crime was uncovered by the FBI and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, who worked together to investigate the case. The North Carolina Department of Insurance also assisted in the investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Caryn Finley and William Bozin prosecuted the case. The defendants will have to pay back the $400,000 they fraudulently obtained.
Taylor-Sanders, who was a licensed Insurance Producer and Insurance Broker, and the owner of G. Taylor, Inc., an insurance agency in Charlotte, surrendered all of her licenses issued by the North Carolina Department of Insurance in February 2018.
