RALEIGH, North Carolina
A 32-year-old man from Tyner, North Carolina, has been sentenced to 36 months imprisonment for firing a gun during a domestic dispute.
Nicholas Elliott, 32, was named in a single-count Indictment on August 22, 2019, charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty to the Indictment on November 13, 2019.
According to the investigation, a woman called 911 on June 20, 2019, reporting that her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Elliott, had fired a gun at her outside a residence in Tyner, NC, in Chowan County.
The Chowan County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation, and Assistant United States Attorney Jake D. Pugh represented the government.
Elliott had sustained three state convictions for Assault on a Female, as well as a Domestic Violence Protective Order Violation, and a state felony drug conviction, for which he was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
This case is part of Project Guardian, the Department of Justice’s signature initiative to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws.
Elliott will serve 36 months imprisonment, followed by 3 years of supervised release.
