Ernest McMikle, a 39-year-old Gloversville resident, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine and crack cocaine in Gloversville, NY. Between February 13 and March 27, 2025, McMikle sold methamphetamine and cocaine base on three occasions, leading to a search warrant at his residence on April 9, 2025. The search revealed 144.3 grams of cocaine and 97.8 grams of crack cocaine, and McMikle was found responsible for distributing 166.5 grams of methamphetamine, 152.2 grams of cocaine base, and 144.3 grams of cocaine.
The investigation was led by the FBI, with assistance from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations, the Gloversville Police Department, and the Johnstown Police Department. First Assistant United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III commended the law enforcement partners for their efforts in removing the deadly narcotics from the streets and bringing McMikle to justice.
McMikle’s sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino on June 24, 2026. In addition to the 10-year prison term, McMikle will serve a five-year term of supervised release. The case was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Paul DerOhannesian.
The conviction and sentencing of McMikle mark a significant step in the fight against drug trafficking in the region. According to Special Agent in Charge Craig Tremaroli of the FBI Albany, the FBI will continue to work tirelessly with law enforcement partners to identify, investigate, and bring to justice those who seek to harm communities through the sale of illicit narcotics.
