A 34-year-old Maple Shade, New Jersey, man has been charged with a serious crime.
Gokhan Ayaz, a native and citizen of Turkey, was found in the United States after having been deported from the United States on or about March 11, 2013.
Ayaz, 34, was charged today by Indictment with illegal reentry after deportation, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.
The indictment alleges that on or about April 4, 2016, Ayaz was found in the United States after having been deported from the United States on or about March 11, 2013.
If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of two years.
The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations (“ERO”) and United States Customs and Border Protection (“CBP”), and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrea Foulkes.
An Indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
