Gregory Grove, Failing to Register as Sex Offender, New York 2024

Rochester, N.Y.– A 37-year-old sex offender has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for failing to register in New York State, reported the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of New York. Gregory Grove, a/k/a Gregory Kutruff, was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

Grove is required to register as a sex offender in both New York State and Pennsylvania, where he previously lived. In June 2011, he left Pennsylvania for the Western District of New York without updating his registration status with Pennsylvania authorities, or registering as a sex offender in New York State.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project marshals federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by the United States Marshals Service, under the direction of Marshal Charles Salina. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Lee handled the case.

Grove’s sentence includes 18 months in prison and five years of supervised release. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of registering as a sex offender in compliance with state and federal laws.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York continues to work tirelessly to protect the public from sex offenders who fail to register. This case is a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors in bringing violators of sex offender registration laws to justice.
