Gregory Steven Hunt, 44, of Dallas, is headed to federal prison for 204 months after admitting his role in a brutal 2012 plot to kidnap a woman and sell her into sex slavery. Hunt, also known as “K.C.,” pleaded guilty in April 2015 to one count of kidnapping, bringing a measure of justice to a case marked by violence, deception, and inhumanity.
The scheme was orchestrated with Steric Paul Mitchell, 46, who was convicted in August 2015 following a nearly two-week trial on charges of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and kidnapping. Mitchell’s sentencing is pending, but the evidence laid bare in court reveals a chilling collaboration between the two Dallas men, who knew each other from the neighborhood and conspired to exploit and terrorize an innocent woman.
According to court documents and trial testimony, in early May 2012, Mitchell hired Hunt to pick up the victim at a Dallas hotel under the false pretense that she was being taken to a private party. R.E., another woman involved in the setup, told the victim the men were “safe” and had hired her as a private dancer. At the hotel, Hunt paid R.E. $100, then drove the woman to an abandoned house where Mitchell waited.
At the house, Mitchell produced a firearm, threatened the victim, and shocked her with a Taser to subdue her. Hunt then raped her while Mitchell stood guard with the gun. The assault escalated when Mitchell shocked her again, bound her wrists and ankles, wrapped her in a bed sheet, and carried her to a vehicle. He drove her to a second location, tied her to a chair, raped her, and declared his intent to sell her into sexual slavery, holding her overnight.
From there, Mitchell transported her—still wrapped in the sheet—to a house in Duncanville, Texas, where he sexually assaulted her again. It was at this third location that the victim managed to find a cell phone and place four 911 calls. Officers from the Duncanville Police Department responded quickly, locating and rescuing her from captivity.
The FBI and Duncanville Police Department led the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cara Foos Pierce and Andrew Wirmani prosecuted the case. Hunt’s 204-month sentence sends a stark message: those who conspire to enslave others through violence and deception will face the full weight of federal justice.
