New Orleans, Louisiana – Grimy Times has learned that Federico Mendez-Francisco, alias Jorge Santos Arroyo and Jorge A. Gordillo, stands indicted for illegal re-entry into the United States after having been previously removed. The 40-year-old Guatemalan native faces a daunting ten years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Court documents reveal that Mendez-Francisco was apprehended in Jefferson Parish on May 2, 2025. He had been deported on July 3, 2024, and lacked authorization from the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security to return.
Before his removal, Mendez-Francisco served time for felony forgery after pleading guilty in Pike County, Missouri, in 2005. His current charges stem from a brazen violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a)(b)(1).
Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson emphasized that an indictment is not a conviction and that Mendez-Francisco’s guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. The ICE-ERO played a pivotal role in the investigation.
Mendez-Francisco’s legal team may now work to mitigate the severe consequences, including supervised release and a $100 special assessment fee. Assistant U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans is handling the prosecution.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, which mobilizes federal resources against illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations, ensuring safer communities for all. The coordinated efforts of OCDETFs and PSN are essential in these endeavors.
