Juan Perez-Martin, Unlawful Reentry into the United States by a Deported or Removed Alien, Mississippi 2025

JACKSON, MS – Juan Perez-Martin, a 31-year-old Guatemalan national, has proven to be a repeat offender in the United States, pleading guilty on June 5, 2025, to Unlawful Reentry into the United States by a Deported or Removed Alien.

According to court documents, Perez-Martin was found illegally present in Madison County, Mississippi on March 19, 2025, after having been previously removed from the United States in 2019 and previously deported in 2022. This case is a stark reminder of the ongoing issue of illegal immigration and the need for stricter border control measures.

Perez-Martin is scheduled to be sentenced on September 3, 2025 and faces a maximum penalty of 2 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Acting U.S. Attorney Patrick A. Lemon for the Southern District of Mississippi; and Field Office Director Mellisa B. Harper of Immigration and Customs (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New Orleans, made the announcement.

This case was investigated by ICE ERO, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Amber Jones prosecuted the case. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.

Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN). This case is a significant step towards achieving the goals of this initiative, and we will continue to work tirelessly to protect our communities from the scourge of illegal immigration.
