Machine Gun Dealer Omar Joel Rivera Olivo Faces 20 Years in Prison

Orlando, Florida – In a shocking turn of events, a 26-year-old Orlando man has pleaded guilty to selling machine guns to an undercover law enforcement officer.

Omar Joel Rivera Olivo, 26, Orlando, Florida, pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing and transferring machine guns, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison for each count.

According to the plea agreement, Rivera Olivo engaged in eight sales of drugs and guns, including automatic weapons, to the undercover officer. The accused initially sold cocaine and marijuana before moving on to firearms.

On March 13 and March 28, 2025, Rivera Olivo sold four firearms, some of which had been modified to be fully automatic weapons, along with multiple devices to convert firearms into fully automatic weapons.

Further investigation revealed that Rivera Olivo posted images of himself online with guns, drugs, and the proceeds of his illegal activities, highlighting the brazen nature of his crime.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Dana E. Hill.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
