OXFORD, MS – Antonio Quintana-Rodriguez, 29, a Mexican national, is facing the consequences for a double betrayal of the law. He admitted guilt Thursday, June 26, 2025, to illegally reentering the United States after a 2013 deportation. The plea comes on the heels of a conviction for a particularly heinous crime: Statutory Rape, committed in Oxford, Mississippi.
Court records reveal Quintana-Rodriguez was previously removed from the U.S. by immigration authorities in 2013. Undeterred, he slipped back across the border, only to be apprehended following his arrest for the sexual assault. In May of 2025, he pled guilty to Statutory Rape in the Circuit Court of Lafayette County. Now, he’s facing federal charges for his unlawful return.
“Those who illegally enter this country and prey on children must be held accountable for their violation of our laws,” stated United States Attorney Clay Joyner, delivering a blunt assessment of the case. “We commend the work by the Oxford Police Department in their investigation of a sex offense against a child and we commend their working with the Department of Homeland Security to ensure that this defendant will answer for every violation of law he has committed.”
Joyner also extended praise to Third Circuit District Attorney Ben Creekmore’s Office for their swift handling of the statutory rape case, securing a guilty plea that paved the way for the federal reentry charge. This coordinated effort between local and federal agencies underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating this case.
The announcement was jointly made by U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner of the Northern District of Mississippi and Homeland Security ASAC, Matt Reidell. The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Department of Homeland Security and the Oxford Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney John Herzog Jr. leading the prosecution.
This case falls under the umbrella of “Operation Take Back America,” a nationwide initiative designed to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and safeguard communities from violent crime. The operation leverages resources from the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood. Sentencing for Quintana-Rodriguez’s federal charge will be scheduled at a later date, promising further accountability for his crimes. Learn more about Operation Take Back America.
