Abe L. Sireech, Illegal Firearm Possession, Idaho 2022

Fort Hall’s Abe L. Sireech, 37, faced the cold steel of justice today as he was sentenced to 29 months in federal prison for his illegal possession of a firearm. The sentence comes after a dramatic encounter with Fort Hall Police.

On August 6, 2022, police found Sireech slumped over the steering wheel of a suspicious vehicle parked outside someone’s home. The officer who arrived on the scene noticed something ominous next to Sireech’s leg: a loaded semi-automatic rifle. With an earlier conviction for felony aggravated assault, Sireech was strictly forbidden from carrying firearms or ammunition.

Sireech pleaded guilty to illegal possession of the firearm back in April 2025, and today, Senior U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill ordered that he serve three years of supervised release following his prison term. The Acting U.S. Attorney Justin Whatcott had nothing but praise for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Fort Hall Police Department’s work.

This case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in our communities. In May 2021, the department reinforced PSN with strategies focused on fostering community trust, supporting local organizations, setting enforcement priorities, and measuring results.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Haycock led the prosecution of this case, ensuring that justice was served for those affected by Sireech’s actions.
