Todd L. Addison, a 38-year-old Rochester man, has been sentenced to 87 months in prison for buying guns in Pennsylvania and selling them to felons in Rochester, NY. Between March and August 2025, Addison purchased at least seven firearms, including one with an obliterated serial number, and transported them to New York for illegal resale. He knew that at least one of his buyers was a felon who intended to use the gun for unlawful purposes.
Addison’s gun running operation was shut down on August 27, 2025, when the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the Rochester Police Department’s Violent Crime Task Force executed search warrants at his Hudson Avenue residence and a vehicle he used to travel to and from Pennsylvania. During the search, law enforcement recovered a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, 56 rounds of ammunition, and pistol magazines from the vehicle, as well as empty pistol boxes, black pistol holders, and a gun cleaning kit from his residence.
The case was investigated by the ATF, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan DiGirolamo, and the Rochester Police Department, under the direction of Chief David Smith. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. Marangola prosecuted the case, which resulted in Addison’s conviction and sentencing by U.S. District Judge Meredith A. Vacca.
Addison’s sentencing marks the culmination of a thorough investigation and prosecution of a serious firearms trafficking case. The collaboration between federal and local law enforcement agencies has taken a gun runner off the streets and helped to reduce the flow of illegal firearms in the Rochester area.
