Jonathan Levon Warner, Firearms Dealing, Mississippi 2026

⏱ 2 min read

Jonathan Levon Warner, a 28-year-old Jackson, Mississippi resident, has been sentenced to 27 months for his role in a firearms trafficking scheme that funneled guns from the Southern District of Mississippi to crime scenes in Chicago. Between March 15, 2022, and July 27, 2023, Warner purchased at least 33 firearms, mostly Glocks, from gun stores and shows, which he then resold for profit to an individual from Chicago. The guns were often recovered by law enforcement at crime scenes, with at least five linked to suspected crimes and three found in the possession of individuals who couldn’t lawfully own them.

Warner’s operation involved buying guns in Mississippi and reselling them to the Chicago individual, who would travel to Jackson to make the purchases or send Warner cash through Cashapp. The scheme netted Warner a profit of $200 to $300 per firearm, with Warner admitting to selling between 20 and 40 guns. The firearms were often recovered in the Chicago area within nine months of purchase, highlighting the rapid turnaround of these illicit guns.

Warner pleaded guilty to unlicensed firearms dealing on April 7 and was sentenced on July 2, 2026. United States Attorney J.E. Baxter Kruger commended the ATF and prosecutors for holding Warner accountable, stating that the illegal sale of firearms contributes to ongoing violence in communities.

The case underscores the dangers of firearms trafficking and the need for law enforcement to crack down on these operations. By cutting off the supply of illicit guns, authorities can reduce the risk of violent crime and make communities safer.
