A Hallandale resident has been sentenced to 188 months in prison for his role in three separate cases involving attempted extortion, bank robbery, and product tampering.
Brian Henderson, 50, was sentenced before U.S. District Judge Frederico A. Moreno in the Southern District of Florida.
Henderson was convicted of attempting to extort money from Publix Super Markets, Inc. by sending threatening emails and detonating a pipe bomb at a Publix store in Dania.
He was also found guilty of robbing a Chase Bank in Florida by presenting a demand note and threatening to detonate a bomb around his neck.
Additionally, Henderson was convicted of threatening to tamper with a consumer product with reckless disregard for the risk that another person would be placed in danger of death or bodily injury.
Henderson was sentenced to 188 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release in the attempted extortion case, 188 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release in the bank robbery case, and 60 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release in the product tampering case.
The sentences imposed will run concurrently.
Wifredo A. Ferrer, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and other law enforcement officials announced the sentencing.
