Washington, D.C. – The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has announced a bold move to stamp out workplace misconduct with the appointment of Hansel J. Cordeiro as Director of its newly formed Office of Professional Conduct (OPC).

The OPC is designed as a dedicated hub for employee complaints of harassment and other interpersonal misdeeds, ensuring that these concerns are addressed swiftly and effectively. Cordeiro will be at the helm, reporting directly to the FDIC Board of Directors.

Cordeiro’s journey into this new role is steeped in experience. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of Accountability and Strategic Business Management at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he spearheaded anti-harassment initiatives for over 45,000 employees and contractors.

Before his tenure at the FAA, Cordeiro held executive roles in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), focusing on accountability and whistleblower protection. His work included leading efforts to improve personnel and organizational accountability within VA and providing legal advice on employment and labor law issues.

Cordeiro’s government career began at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, where he implemented significant reforms to federal personnel systems.

Educationally, Cordeiro holds a Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York.
