Local Man Sentenced to Nearly Six Years for Cocaine Trafficking

PITTSBURGH – In a shocking turn of events, Harold Novick, a 41-year-old resident of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute cocaine, according to a recent announcement by Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman.

Novick’s sentence was handed down by United States District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan, who also ordered the defendant to serve six years of supervised release following his prison term. This development comes as a result of a multi-agency investigation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.

The investigation revealed that Novick had been trafficking cocaine for several months in 2018 while on state parole for a previous cocaine trafficking conviction. This is not the first time Novick has found himself on the wrong side of the law – he has been previously convicted six times in six prior federal and state prosecutions for trafficking cocaine, and has served several state and federal prison sentences as a result.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted this case on behalf of the United States, bringing the defendant to justice for his crimes. The investigation also involved several other law enforcement agencies, including the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Beaver County District Attorney’s Office, and the Department of Homeland Security/Homeland Security Investigations.

The prosecution of Novick is a result of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation, which aims to identify, disrupt, and dismantle high-level drug traffickers and other transnational criminal organizations threatening communities throughout the United States.

The sentencing of Harold Novick serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in cocaine trafficking.
