A 46-year-old Indiana, Pennsylvania, resident has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for his role in a narcotics trafficking operation.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Barry Baker was convicted of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, fentanyl, and crack. The charges stem from a federal investigation that found Baker conspired with others to distribute and possess large quantities of these drugs from December 2021 to March 2023.
As part of his sentence, Baker will also serve four years of supervised release following his prison term.
The investigation, which was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Laurel Highlands Resident Agency, and Homeland Security Investigations, also involved the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and other local law enforcement agencies.
Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti commended the participating agencies for their work in bringing Baker to justice.
This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation, which targets high-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten the United States.
Baker’s sentence is a significant blow to the narcotics trafficking operation in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
