Hartford Man Sentenced to 27 Months for Cocaine and Marijuana

Hartford, CT – In a shocking turn of events, 30-year-old MICHAEL LEDBETTER, of Hartford, has been sentenced to 27 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for distributing cocaine and marijuana while on federal supervised release.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Ledbetter, a convicted felon, had a long history of run-ins with the law. In April 2014, he was convicted of six counts of accessory to first degree assault in state court. He was later sentenced to 15 months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release for possession of ammunition by a felon in 2017.

However, Ledbetter’s troubles didn’t end there. While on federal supervised release, he was arrested on state domestic violence charges and failed multiple drug tests. On October 30, 2019, Ledbetter cut off his GPS monitoring device and failed to respond to messages from the U.S. Probation Office. The final straw came on November 20, 2019, when the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Ledbetter in a motel room in Hartford with approximately 11 pounds of marijuana, 119 grams of cocaine and $4,750 in cash.

Ledbetter has been detained since his arrest and pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana on November 9, 2020. This investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Connecticut Violent Crime Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Service. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian P. Leaming.

The harsh sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport. Ledbetter’s actions were deemed a clear violation of his supervised release and the severity of his crimes.

As the investigation revealed, Ledbetter was involved in a significant narcotics trafficking operation, distributing large quantities of cocaine and marijuana. His actions put the community at risk and his sentence reflects the gravity of his offenses.
