Lincoln Man Sentenced to 18+ Years for Methamphetamine Possession
A federal judge in Lincoln, Nebraska, sentenced Tommy L. Meyer, 43, to 224 months in prison for one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine with a prior serious drug felony.
This is the second time Meyer has found himself in trouble for his involvement with methamphetamine. His prior conviction for delivery/possession with intent to deliver an exceptionally hazardous drug in Lancaster County District Court mandated a 15-year minimum sentence.
On May 19, 2021, the Lincoln Metro Fugitive Task Force was attempting to locate Meyer for a warrant. During the arrest, officers found $900 in currency on his person and a digital scale in his vehicle.
A search of Meyer’s vehicle uncovered a backpack containing $17,039 in currency, multiple bags of suspected methamphetamine weighing a total of 9.5 pounds, and another scale. Behind a subwoofer in the trunk, officers discovered a concealed compartment containing 9 more bricks of suspected methamphetamine, weighing a total of 9.4 pounds.
The suspected methamphetamine was sent to the lab for testing, which determined that the methamphetamine was 100% pure.
Meyer’s sentence also includes a final order of forfeiture for $18,451 in currency. After serving his sentence, he will be placed on supervised release for 10 years. There is no parole in the federal system.
This case was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force and the Lincoln Metropolitan Fugitive Task Force.
The crime was committed in Lincoln, Nebraska, on May 19, 2021. The sentencing took place on December 7, 2022.
