Isaiah Halliday, Armed Robbery, Connecticut 2017

HARTFORD, CT – Isaiah Halliday, a 19-year-old Hartford native, admitted his role in a violent string of robberies targeting individuals seeking deals on mobile classifieds web apps. The spree, which occurred between September and November 2017, left several victims robbed of their money and cell phones.

According to court documents, Halliday and his associates used fake accounts to lure customers into confrontations, brandishing firearms in every instance. On November 11, 2017, the situation turned tragic when a victim was shot during an attempted robbery on Blue Hills Avenue. Halliday pleaded guilty yesterday, facing up to 30 years in prison.

The defendant has been detained since his arrest in November 2017, and sentencing is scheduled for August 7, 2019. The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Hartford Police Department, with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey M. Stone.

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer presided over Halliday’s plea hearing in New Haven, where the defendant admitted to his involvement in multiple armed robberies. In addition to interference with commerce by robbery, Halliday also pleaded guilty to use of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, which carries a mandatory consecutive sentence.

John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, emphasized the severity of the crimes and the impact on the community. ‘The safety of our citizens is paramount, and we will continue to pursue those who commit violent acts in our neighborhoods,’ Durham stated.
