Haskins Man Charged with Bank Fraud
A high-stakes bank fraud scheme in Northwest Ohio has landed a local man behind bars. Nicholas W. Bradley, 34, of Haskins, Ohio, has been charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud and filing a false tax return.
According to a recent indictment, Bradley’s alleged crimes spanned from March 2006 to December 2008. If convicted, his sentence will be determined by the Court after reviewing factors unique to this case, including his prior criminal record, if any, his role in the offense and the characteristics of the violation.
The sentence will be in line with federal guidelines, with the court imposing a penalty not exceeding the statutory maximum. In most cases, the sentence will be less than the maximum.
The investigation into Bradley’s alleged crimes is being handled by the Internal Revenue Service, Toledo, Ohio. Assistant United States Attorney Gene Crawford is leading the case against the accused.
An information, or indictment, is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Bradley remains free until his trial, which has yet to be scheduled. The case is ongoing, and details surrounding the bank fraud scheme are still emerging.
