Hector Saul Castro-Aguirre, Cocaine Trafficking, Indiana 2016

Indianapolis – A multi-state drug trafficking organization that brought large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine to Central Indiana has been dismantled, federal authorities announced today.

According to a federal indictment, Hector Saul Castro-Aguirre, 38, of Nogales, Mexico, and Rafael Rojas-Reyes, 34, of Avon, were the masterminds behind the organization, which brought drugs to Central Indiana and other U.S. cities.

From July 2015 through September 2016, Castro-Aguirre allegedly received the drugs from Mexico for redistribution in the United States. Some shipments were delivered in Avon, Indiana, and others were sent to locations in Arizona, New York and Pennsylvania.

Once the drugs were delivered to Avon, they were redistributed by Rafael Rojas-Reyes to other mid-level dealers. The indictment alleges that the organization netted millions of dollars in cash profits.

U.S. Attorney Josh J. Minkler said, “Large-scale drug trafficking dealing brings violence and disrupts the tranquility of our neighborhoods.”

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Carmel Police Department and Indianapolis Metropolitan Drug Task Force.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Bradley A. Blackington said the defendants face decades in prison if convicted on all counts.

An indictment is only a charge and not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven otherwise in federal court.
