A 44-year-old Henrietta man has been arrested and charged with production and possession of child pornography, including images of prepubescent minors.
Mark Buechler, a resident of Henrietta, New York, was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with production of child pornography and possession of child pornography, including child pornography involving minors less than 12 years old. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, Major Crimes Unit, under the direction of Sheriff Todd Baxter; the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, Special Victims Unit, under the direction of District Attorney Sandra Doorley; Monroe County Child Protective Services, under the direction of Amy Natale-McConnell; the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Gary Loeffert; and the Bivona Child Advocacy Center, under the direction of Executive Director Deb Rosen.
According to the complaint, on May 3, 2018, an 11-year-old boy disclosed to his school counselor that Buechler performed various sexual acts on him at the defendant’s home on Stone Road in Henrietta. The counselor contacted Child Protective Services to report the alleged incidents.
On May 3, 2018, a state search warrant was executed at Buechler’s residence and multiple digital devices were seized, including computers, tablets, phones, SD cards, thumb drives, and digital cameras. On May 7, 2018, another state search warrant was executed, and additional digital devices were seized.
A review of the items seized uncovered approximately 8,700 images and two videos of child pornography produced by Buechler, some of which depicted the defendant abusing the minor victims. Buechler made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Marina W. Payson and was detained.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
