A trio of men, accused of conspiring to distribute heroin in Louisiana, have been handed prison sentences. Frederick Taylor, 33, of New Orleans, was sentenced to 110 months in prison, accompanied by a five-year supervised release term. His accomplices, Jermey Williams, 29, of Cleveland, Texas, and Thiougest Wooldridge, 34, of New Orleans, received 75 and 70 months in prison, respectively, along with five years of supervised release.
The sentencing is a culmination of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation into the trio’s alleged involvement in a massive heroin operation. In June 2012, Taylor, Williams, and Wooldridge were charged, along with three other defendants, in a superseding indictment. The indictment accused them of violating the Federal Controlled Substances Act.
On January 10, 2013, the three men pleaded guilty to being part of a conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean Toomey handled the prosecution, while the case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente announced the sentencing, which was handed down by the Honorable Nannette Jolivette Brown.
The case highlights the ongoing struggle against heroin trafficking in Louisiana and the surrounding areas. The sentencing of Taylor, Williams, and Wooldridge serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of engaging in such activities.
A separate trial for the remaining defendants in the case, Brandon Cheatham, Joshua Clofer, and Josh Tapp, is scheduled for July 22, 2013.
