A Blue Ash, Ohio man has admitted to secretly filming minors in their bedrooms using hidden cameras. David Mitsnefes, 32, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of children, a crime that took place between 2021 and 2025. Mitsnefes would capture videos of the minors in various states of undress without their knowledge and even took their underwear, keeping them in his bedroom. The family of the victims discovered the hidden cameras on multiple occasions, leading to an investigation that uncovered a disturbing collection of child sexual abuse material.
The probe began when the family’s Ring security camera caught an image of Mitsnefes entering the home while they were away in November 2025. A subsequent search of his electronic devices revealed over 5,000 images and 3,000 videos of child pornography, as well as the videos he had taken of the minor victims. Mitsnefes was charged federally and arrested in December 2025.
Mitsnefes faces a term of imprisonment of 15 to 30 years for his crimes. The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The guilty plea was announced by United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio Dominick S. Gerace II, along with the FBI and local law enforcement.
The investigation and prosecution of Mitsnefes demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement to protecting children from sexual exploitation and holding perpetrators accountable. As the case moves forward, Mitsnefes will face the consequences of his actions, and the victims will receive the support and justice they deserve.
