SIOUX CITY, IA – Shayne Yates, 49, of Hinton, Iowa, is headed to federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing sickening child pornography. Yates received a 33-month sentence from U.S. District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand, a punishment barely scratching the surface of the harm he inflicted by consuming and harboring such depravity.
Court records reveal Yates’s depravity spanned from August 2017 through February 2019. Authorities discovered he possessed over 150 images of child pornography on a Kindle Fire Tablet. The images depicted minors engaged in sexually explicit acts, including depictions involving a prepubescent minor – a child who hadn’t even reached the age of 12. This isn’t just a crime; it’s a betrayal of the most vulnerable.
Following his prison term, Yates will be subject to a 5-year term of supervised release. Don’t be fooled – there’s no parole in the federal system.
