Hobson Brothers, Fentanyl Trafficking, Pennsylvania 2026
A devastating fentanyl trafficking ring was dismantled in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, with the sentencing of two brothers, Akilees Kadeem Hobson and Armand Kierran Hobson, aged 27 and 28, respectively.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the brothers were sentenced on February 10, 2026, by Senior United States District Judge Robert D. Mariani for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl.
The brothers were responsible for distributing and possessing large quantities of illicit substances, including 27 grams of fentanyl and 39 grams of crack cocaine. Akilees Hobson sold drugs to a confidential informant on 14 separate occasions, while Armand Hobson was involved in the sale of fentanyl and marijuana.
The case unfolded in August and September 2024, when the brothers conspired to distribute fentanyl. Their homes were subsequently searched, and additional drugs were seized.
Akilees Hobson, who was on federal supervised release for a previous conviction, was sentenced to 11 years’ imprisonment. Armand Hobson, who had been incarcerated since September 25, 2024, received time served.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Kingston Police Department, and the Luzerne County Drug Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jenny P. Roberts prosecuted the case.
The sentencing is a significant blow to the fentanyl trafficking ring and a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating the opioid crisis. The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities nationwide.
