GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – In a gritty verdict, William Anthony Hoffa, 29, from Newport and Morristown, Tenn., was locked away for 300 months in federal prison on Oct. 24, 2016, by U.S. District Court Judge J. Ronnie Greer. The judge also sentenced Hoffa to life under supervised release, strict sex offender conditions, mandatory registry, and a $100 special assessment.
Hoffa pleaded guilty to heinous charges of receiving, distributing, and possessing child pornography in July 2016. His crimes were executed via email from apartments in Morristown, Tenn., between 2014 and his arrest in June 2014. Upon his capture, authorities found a trove of child pornography on his mobile phone, including 312 images and four videos.
The case against Hoffa was the fruit of an intensive investigation by the Morristown Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Helen Smith representing the United States in court.
