Holden Cole Thompson, Abusive Sexual Contact with a Child, South Dakota 2021

A Little Eagle man has been sentenced to federal prison for Abusive Sexual Contact with a Child, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Holden Cole Thompson, 31, was sentenced to 180 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100, by U.S. District Court Judge Charles B. Kornmann on May 16, 2022.

The conviction stemmed from conduct that occurred between 2015 and 2016 at Little Eagle, in which Thompson engaged in sexual contact with a child who had not attained the age of 12 years.

Thompson was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 8, 2021, and pled guilty on October 18, 2021.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron J. Cook prosecuting the case.

Thompson was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office reminds the public that an indictment is merely an accusation, and that Thompson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

This case serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting children and holding those who abuse them accountable for their actions.
