BATON ROUGE, LA – In a shocking turn of events, CHRISTOPHER L. BROWN, a 35-year-old Baton Rouge resident, was sentenced to 270 months imprisonment and 5 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to his role in a home invasion conspiracy aimed at stealing 12 kilograms of cocaine and killing anyone that stood in the way.
The case against BROWN, who was 35 years old at the time of his sentencing, centered around his guilty pleas in January 2014 for conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute five (5) kilograms or more of cocaine, a Class A felony, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 846.
Additionally, BROWN was found guilty of possessing firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c)(1)(A); and possessing a firearm while a convicted felon, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1).
BROWN’s co-defendant, CHRIS E. WILLIAMS, was previously sentenced on April 30, 2014, to 270 months imprisonment, mirroring BROWN’s sentence.
U.S. Attorney Walt Green praised the hard work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and the East Baton Rouge Violent Crimes Unit, comprised of the Baton Rouge Police Department, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Louisiana State Police, for their tireless efforts in bringing BROWN to justice.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office, along with their federal, state, and local partners, will continue to devote significant resources to identifying, investigating, and prosecuting violent career offenders who plague our streets, threaten our families, and destroy our neighborhoods.
The investigation was led by the ATF and the East Baton Rouge Violent Crimes Unit, with the case being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Kleinpeter, who also serves as a Deputy Chief in the Criminal Division.
