HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – In a grim turn of events, Tayron Jerome Griffin, also known as “Taye,” 24, from Huntington, has pleaded guilty to a federal drug crime, possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Court documents and statements reveal that on March 4, 2025, law enforcement officers conducted a search warrant at Griffin’s residence. During the raid, they discovered approximately 617 grams of methamphetamine in his bedroom nightstand, an additional 8 grams of meth in a kitchen drawer, and drug trafficking paraphernalia along with $1,648 in cash.
Griffin’s guilty plea includes admission to possessing the seized drugs with intent to distribute them. He also confessed that the cash was proceeds from drug sales. The investigation further revealed Griffin’s possession of three firearms: a loaded Romarm Cugir Model Mini Draco 7.62x39mm pistol, a loaded Smith & Wesson Shield .40-caliber pistol, and a loaded Glock 20 10mm pistol.
Griffin admitted to selling drugs on three separate occasions at his residence, each time to a confidential informant. He sold approximately 28.9 grams of meth for $200 on February 21, 2025, another 27.9 grams for $210 on February 25, 2025, and 1.59 grams of cocaine for $100 on February 28, 2025.
Scheduled to be sentenced on October 14, 2025, Griffin faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years up to life in prison, at least five years of supervised release, and a $10 million fine.
