ST. GEORGE, UT – The grim reaper of the streets, Chad Eugene Devaughn, 42, from Hurricane, Utah, has pleaded guilty to charges of methamphetamine distribution and firearm possession in federal court. Scheduled for a February 3, 2015, sentencing hearing, Devaughn’s life is set to spiral into darkness with a recommended sentence of 144 months behind bars.
The plea agreement, a grim testament to his criminal enterprise, also mandates the forfeiture of $4,500 in cash and eight firearms, some of which were confirmed stolen. The methamphetamine, recovered during a search warrant at his residence, weighed a staggering 220 grams. Devaughn’s firearm arsenal included a Kel Tec 9mm handgun, all used to fuel his drug trafficking operation.
U.S. District Judge Ted Stewart will mete out the sentence in St. George on February 3, 2015. This is the culmination of an investigation by the Washington County Drug Task Force, which uncovered Devaughn’s methamphetamine stash and weaponry during a raid at his residence.
The case against Devaughn was filed October 28, 2014, marking the beginning of the end for the drug dealer who thought he could evade justice. As part of the plea agreement, Devaughn admitted to possessing meth with intent to distribute on August 26, 2014, a date that will forever be etched in his criminal past.
Chad Eugene Devaughn’s sentence is not just a verdict against him; it’s a victory for law enforcement and the people of Utah. The Hurricane Man’s fall from grace serves as a stark reminder to those who deal in the deadly trade of drugs and guns that justice will always be served.
