On January 13, Robyn Argote-Brooks, a 25-year-old Cuban national, used his vehicle to ram and damage two ICE vehicles, an SUV and a sedan, in San Antonio, Texas. The incident occurred when Argote-Brooks intentionally used his vehicle to strike the ICE vehicles, causing over $1,000 in damages to each vehicle. The motive behind the attack is unclear, but the outcome is certain: Argote-Brooks now faces serious consequences for his actions.
A federal jury convicted Argote-Brooks on two counts of destruction of government property. The conviction came after a three-day jury trial presided over by U.S. District Judge Fred Biery. The case was investigated by ICE Homeland Security Investigations with assistance from ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Amy Walker and Todd Keagle, with technical assistance provided by Megan Ramirez from the office’s Advanced Litigation Support unit. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational crime.
The conviction of Argote-Brooks sends a clear message that violent acts against law enforcement and government property will not be tolerated. As the case moves forward, Argote-Brooks will face sentencing for his crimes, and the full weight of the justice system will be brought to bear.
