Three men, all in the United States illegally, were sentenced in federal court in Southern Georgia for re-entering the country after being deported. Olicer Elio Morales-Roblero, 34, of Guatemala, Ernesto Campistrano-Hernandez, 37, of Mexico, and Cruz Marroquin-Najera, 29, of Guatemala, all pleaded guilty to Illegal Re-entry after Removal or Deportation. The cases were investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, and Chatham County law enforcement.
Morales-Roblero was identified as an illegal alien in Effingham County in May 2026 and sentenced to seven months in prison followed by deportation. Campistrano-Hernandez and Marroquin-Najera were stopped by Chatham County Sheriff’s Office in February and March 2026, respectively, and sentenced to time served followed by deportation.
The sentences were imposed by U.S. District Court Chief Judge R. Stan Baker, and announced by U.S. Attorney Margaret E. ‘Meg’ Heap. Heap stated that ‘illegal aliens that have no respect for the rule of law will be continue to be held accountable’ and that her office is committed to working with local law enforcement to identify and remove illegal aliens who disregard the nation’s laws.
The charge of Illegal Re-entry after Removal or Deportation applies to aliens who have been removed or deported from the United States at least once before. Upon completion of their sentences, the three men will be transferred to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation proceedings.
