Transnational threats have intensified, with criminals and terrorists leveraging border security vulnerabilities for heinous acts, said INTERPOL Washington Director Michael A. Hughes.
The World Border Security Congress brought together border management and security professionals to discuss and debate current and future border policies, implementation issues, and other related challenges.
An INTERPOL Washington delegation emphasized the agency’s work in strengthening domestic and international border security at the conference.
INTERPOL Washington maintains numerous programs to bolster border security, including sharing global criminal investigative data with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and more than 18,000 domestic law enforcement agencies.
Through Project Terminus, INTERPOL Washington extends secure police communications systems to select nations, delivering solid, actionable criminal intelligence in a secure manner.
As the U.S. National Central Bureau, INTERPOL Washington serves as the national point of contact and coordination for all INTERPOL matters, coordinating international investigative efforts among member countries and local, state, federal, tribal, and territorial law enforcement agencies.
An INTERPOL Washington delegation spoke at the event, highlighting the agency’s commitment to working with foreign and domestic law enforcement partners to build a safer world.
