Syracuse, New York – A Louisiana man has been brought to justice for his heinous crimes against a minor. Iordan Bossev, age 21, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, pled guilty in Syracuse to traveling in interstate commerce to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and an additional count of persuading, inducing and enticing an individual to travel in interstate commerce to engage in sexual activity. The defendant also pled guilty to receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
The crimes took place from March 2015 through November 2015. Bossev engaged in internet communications of a sexual nature with a 14-year-old victim, sending and receiving numerous sexually explicit images. In May 2015, he traveled from Louisiana to Watertown, New York, to meet the victim for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct. Bossev rented a hotel room in Jefferson County near the victim’s home, where they spent parts of two days engaging in illicit sexual activities.
In November 2015, Bossev traveled to Jefferson County with the intention of leaving New York State with the victim to further engage in illicit sexual activity. He picked up the victim and went to New York City and later to San Francisco, California. From November 2015 to December 2016, Bossev traveled with the victim to San Francisco, California, Seattle, Washington, and Portland, Oregon, in an effort to evade law enforcement.
Bossev’s case was investigated by the New York State Police, the United States Marshals Service, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey J.L. Brown.
Bossev faces a maximum sentence of six years of imprisonment and a lifetime of supervised release. He will also be required to register as a sex offender. Sentencing is scheduled for August 9, 2018, in Syracuse.
