Timothy Laubacker, Enticement of a Minor and Cyberstalking, New York 2024

Timothy Laubacker, 26, of Lockport, NY, is headed to federal prison for 180 months after being sentenced on charges of enticement of a minor and cyberstalking. The grim outcome, handed down by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo, includes lifetime supervised release — a permanent shadow for a man who exploited fear and digital reach to terrorize underage victims.

The case traces back to September 2015, when a female victim reported to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department that an unknown user on Facebook had contacted her with threats. The messages weren’t random — they carried chilling leverage: the suspect had explicit images she had sent to her then-boyfriend when she was just 14. The images were never meant for public eyes. Laubacker wasn’t just watching — he was weaponizing her past.

Investigation revealed Laubacker as the sender. But he wasn’t acting alone. Evidence showed Travis Guerriera, a co-defendant, had possession of the victim’s images and shared them with Laubacker. Guerriera has since been convicted of possession of child pornography and cyberstalking, and faces up to 10 years at his sentencing on March 14, 2018.

Laubacker’s predatory behavior didn’t stop there. In June 2015, he targeted a second minor through Facebook, attempting to coerce her into producing child pornography. When she refused, he escalated — threatening to release images he already had of her. The psychological siege stretched for months, ending only in November 2015.

The access that enabled this abuse stemmed from Laubacker’s former job as a behavioral health aide at a mental health facility. It was in that position of trust that he initially made contact with the second victim. His employment ended in late December 2015 — terminated for inappropriate communications with another underage girl, adding yet another layer to his pattern of exploitation.

The sentencing, announced by U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr., culminates an investigation led by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force under Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin P. Lyons, alongside the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department under Sheriff James Voutour. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary C. Baumgarten prosecuted the case. The digital trail Laubacker left behind became the noose that sealed his fate.
