Lancelot Paul Lutchman, Child Pornography Distribution, New York 2024

Lancelot Paul Lutchman, a 44-year-old man from the Bronx, is behind bars and facing federal charges for possession and distribution of child pornography. Federal prosecutors say he shared nearly 850 files of child sexual abuse material over a peer-to-peer network, fueling a vile underground market that exploits children.

Geoffrey S. Berman, United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced the arrest alongside NYPD Commissioner James P. O’Neill. Lutchman is accused of distributing approximately 845 unique video files between January 31, 2016, and January 21, 2017. The images depict prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts with adults and other minors — the most disturbing tier of child exploitation material.

On January 26, 2017, NYPD detectives executed a search warrant at Lutchman’s Bronx apartment. As officers entered, he attempted to conceal his laptop inside his kitchen oven. Forensic analysis confirmed the device contained numerous files of child pornography, directly linking him to the digital distribution spree.

Lutchman is charged with one count of distribution and receipt of child pornography — a crime carrying a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and up to 20 years — and one count of possession, which also carries a maximum 20-year sentence. The charges were filed in Manhattan federal court and will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Loss of the General Crimes Unit.

“Trafficking in child pornography fuels demand for such vile images, which means that in a very real sense, every time an image is shared, a child is victimized,” said Berman. “Working with partners like the NYPD, our mission is to protect children and prosecute child predators.”

The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation was led by the NYPD with assistance from the Bronx District Attorney’s Office. Lutchman is scheduled to appear before United States Magistrate Judge Debra Freeman in Manhattan.
