Omaha Man Gets Lengthy Sentence for Possessing Child Pornography
A 59-year-old man from Omaha, Nebraska, has been handed a significant sentence for his crimes related to child pornography. Randy D. Van Beek was sentenced to 72 months of imprisonment, with no parole, after being found guilty of receiving and possessing child pornography.
The Honorable Laurie Smith Camp handed down the sentence in federal court in Omaha, Nebraska. Van Beek will also serve a 10-year term of supervised release after his release from prison. This will be followed by a requirement for him to register as a sex offender.
The case against Van Beek stems from a search warrant served on his home on May 22, 2014. Forensic analysis of his computers revealed more than 500 videos and 400 images of child pornography, many of which involved prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts with other prepubescent children and adults.
Van Beek admitted to viewing and deleting child pornography, and a computer in his home was observed on three separate occasions in March 2014 with child pornography available for sharing. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

The case was investigated by the Omaha FBI’s Cyber Crime Task Force (CCTF). The conviction of Randy D. Van Beek serves as a reminder of the importance of combating child sexual exploitation and abuse.
