CLINT EDWARDS, Child Enticement, New York 2017
In a disturbing case of child exploitation, CLINT EDWARDS has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for enticing a 14-year-old minor to engage in illegal sexual activity. According to court documents, EDWARDS, a resident of New Windsor, New York, used social media and texting applications to solicit sexually explicit photos and videos from the minor.
EDWARDS, who pleaded guilty on July 2, 2018, before United States District Judge Cathy Seibel, arranged to meet the minor at her apartment building on June 6, 2017. The two engaged in sexual activity in the building’s basement, which was captured on surveillance cameras. EDWARDS later traveled with the minor to his residence, where they continued their illicit activities over several days.
Law enforcement recovered the minor from EDWARDS’s residence on June 13, 2017, and he was subsequently arrested on June 16, 2017. EDWARDS was found to have used his iPhone to film a portion of his sexual activity with the minor.
U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman praised the outstanding investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who worked alongside the Portchester Police Department and the New Windsor Police Department to bring EDWARDS to justice. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gillian Grossman led the prosecution in this case.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of online exploitation and the importance of continued vigilance in protecting our children.
