Davenport Man Locks Up 360 Months for Cocaine, Marijuana, and Firearms Crimes
A 34-year-old Davenport man has been sentenced to 360 months in federal prison for his role in a massive cocaine and marijuana trafficking operation. Kpangbala Benyan Blamah, 34, was found guilty of conspiracy to manufacture, distribute, and/or possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and marijuana, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and felon in possession of firearms.
Blamah’s sentencing comes after a lengthy investigation by the Davenport Police Department, which revealed that he was a key player in a large-scale drug distribution conspiracy operating in and around the Quad City Metro area. As part of the operation, Blamah coordinated multiple trips to California, where he and other members of the conspiracy would purchase large quantities of controlled substances. These substances were then mailed back to Davenport and distributed to various members of the conspiracy.
According to court documents, Blamah was responsible for over 1,700 kilograms of controlled substances, including marijuana and cocaine. His crimes also put numerous innocent lives at risk, including minors who were recruited by Blamah to participate in the conspiracy.
United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa announced the sentencing, which is part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative. PSN is a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities across the country.
After serving his 360-month sentence, Blamah will be required to serve five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system. The Davenport Police Department was instrumental in bringing Blamah to justice, and their tireless efforts are a testament to their commitment to keeping our communities safe.
