Crime: An Algona man has been sentenced for his role in a significant methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.
Ryan Hansen, 32, admitted to participating in the illegal trade of at least 500 grams of pure meth from September 2012 to March 2013. Hansen obtained large quantities of meth in Minnesota and distributed it across Iowa.
Hansen’s law enforcement encounter came on March 16, 2013, when he was stopped during a traffic stop with 14.76 grams of pure methamphetamine seized. He confessed to traveling back and forth between states for the drug trade.
United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett sentenced Hansen to twelve years in federal prison, followed by a ten-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
Hansen was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and investigated by local law enforcement agencies. The case number is 13-3010.
