Bank Robber Strikes in Fort Collins

A brazen bank robbery shook the quiet streets of Fort Collins, Colorado on May 27, 2025. Isaac Meraz, 21, allegedly entered the Ent Credit Union on Drake Road, donning a full rubber mask and fake hair.

Meraz, claiming to be there to ‘audit’ the bank, used what appeared to be a handgun to force three employees to accompany him to the bank’s vault. One employee, intimidated by the apparent firearm, handed over cash from the vault. Meraz dropped a portion of the stolen money and the BB gun as he fled the scene.

The credit union was robbed at approximately 2:00 p.m., with Meraz being apprehended shortly after outside the bank. A realistic-looking BB gun was recovered at the scene, leading authorities to believe it was used as a prop during the heist.

Marez made his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cyrus Y. Chung on May 30, 2025. The charges against him are allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Denver Field Office and Fort Collins Police Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Dunn is handling the prosecution.

The case number for this incident is 25-mj-00105-CYC. This is an ongoing investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
