Clearfield Man Guilty of Child Exploitation Charges

A Clearfield man pleaded guilty to charges of producing and possessing materials depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Jackson Curtis Martin III, 46, pleaded guilty to Counts One, Two, Three, and Five of the Indictment before United States District Judge Stephanie Haines.

According to court documents, from December 2018 to September 1, 2019, Martin produced images of a minor female engaged in sexually explicit conduct using materials that were shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce. Additionally, from January 8, 2019, to November 24, 2019, Martin possessed images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, which were produced using prepubescent minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

The court was advised that the computer graphic files were shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce. Judge Haines scheduled sentencing for June 21, 2022. The law provides for a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both, for Counts One and Two, and a maximum total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both, for Counts Three and Five.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant. Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The investigation that led to the prosecution of Martin was conducted by the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, Clearfield Borough Police Department, and the Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
