Jeffrey Colin Rogers, Child Sexual Exploitation, Pennsylvania 2017

A former Sheffield resident has been hit with a 16-count indictment for violating federal child exploitation laws, authorities announced Tuesday.

Jeffrey Colin Rogers, 59, is accused of taking explicit photos of two minors under the age of 18 in November 2017, according to a superseding indictment presented in federal court.

The indictment also alleges that Rogers possessed material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor from November 2017 to February 2018.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by law enforcement to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Rogers faces a maximum total sentence of 400 years in prison, a fine of $4,000,000, or both, under federal law.

Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.

A superseding indictment is an accusation, and Rogers is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
