Chief United States District Judge Timothy J. Corrigan has sentenced Octavio Adalberto Robledo, 54, of Jacksonville, Florida, to 8 years and 4 months in federal prison for downloading videos and photos of young children being sexually abused over the internet.
Robledo, who was also ordered to serve a 20-year term of supervised release and register as a sex offender, entered a guilty plea on March 6, 2024. He was arrested at Miami International Airport in July 2023 after returning from Argentina and has been detained since.
Court documents reveal that a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office detective, an FBI task force officer, traced child sexual abuse material to Robledo’s Jacksonville apartment. During an April 2017 interview, Robledo admitted using online file-sharing programs and locking the materials in a secure program to avoid detection.
The investigation, which spanned nearly two years, uncovered 655 photos and two videos of child sexual abuse downloaded between February 2016 and April 2017. Robledo traveled to Argentina after his arrest and remained there for over six years before returning to the United States.
This case was a part of Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The investigation was conducted by multiple agencies including the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Beach Police Department, United States Customs and Border Protection, and the FBI in Jacksonville and Miami.
