“In a stark reminder of the dangers posed by drug trafficking in our neighborhoods, Sule Pedro has been sentenced to eight years and four months in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl,” said U.S. District Judge Marcia Morales Howard.
Pedro, 47, from Jacksonville, Florida, entered a guilty plea on April 13, 2023. Court documents revealed that he was a notorious drug trafficker operating out of a local carwash.
Between January and August 2022, Pedro sold an estimated 230 grams of methamphetamine and 23 grams of fentanyl to an undercover defendant. His brazen activities came to an end on September 27, 2022, when federal and state law enforcement executed a search warrant at the carwash.
Inside, agents found two firearms, approximately 325 grams of methamphetamine, 57 grams of fentanyl, 268 grams of alpha-PVP (also known as “flakka”), hydrocodone pills, and other narcotics. The haul was substantial enough to earn Pedro the lengthy sentence imposed by Judge Howard.
“This sentencing emphasizes the severity of exploiting a legitimate business to fuel the scourge of narcotics trafficking in our communities,” said Nicholas Ingegno, Assistant Special Agent in Charge for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Tallahassee. “HSI’s partnerships with Nassau County Sheriff’s Office and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office are instrumental in combating drug trafficking and safeguarding the well-being of our communities.”
The case was a collaborative effort between Homeland Security Investigations, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney David B. Mesrobian prosecuted the case.
